In 2022, major geopolitical risk became reality. In these volatile times, the organisation’s focus needs to be on anticipating change and creating resilience.

Transition risk is a recognized challenge and the integration of effective management and response models into corporate agendas are crucial to resilience. Geopolitical risk is linked to transition and thus cannot be considered as a topic confined to discussions in think-tanks or academic circles, it has to be considered a dynamic issue that impacts all organisations with international footprints. In these increasingly volatile times, accentuated by the Covid-19 pandemic, geopolitical change can lead to an increase in existing risks and create additional challenges due to emerging or unknown risks.

When geopolitical forces risk creating disruption, the organisation’s focus has to be on anticipating change. Preparation creates the ability to successfully manage the challenges and gain a competitive edge but this requires a cross-functional approach to develop and coordinate effective strategies.
