Skill sets to address transition
- Workshop
For the Risk Management profession to transition to new and emerging scenarios a series of important competencies are required, however, many of these skills are already very well established and therefore the effort must be on identifying which are priority competencies and how to put them to best use. Silos are a problem, organisations will have to make an effort to combine the skills, knowledge and competencies of employees to develop far more efficient communications and decision making processes. The onus should be on building efficiency, whose skill sets are we talking about, how to we build efficiency into our processes, and what are the practical considerations? Organisations are having to deal with cyber risks, political risk, climate change, and many other considerations that require specific information and analysis. Different actors play different roles and the challenge is to join them up and work as an efficient, multidisciplinary team.
Key Educational Message
The workshop will focus on delivering key messages in regards to working as a team, efficient communications, sharing information, developing solutions, testing responses, building protocols and procedures, and building structures where each party involved can express themselves to the best of their abilities. Organisations will have to reflect on how to anticipate and understand future challenges so as to implement the measures necessary to successfully manage them, the only answer is to build robust and efficient multidisciplinary teams capable of delivering solutions. Technology will play its role, however, the most important tools available are the soft skills that are often forgotten or underestimated.
